I designed Bebek heart tiles on 17 February 2021.
There isn't much deeper meaning behind like my first two designs. Bebek is a lovely neighborhood in Istanbul. This model is meant to be colorful, so I thought it would be suitable.
I created this one just after the Valentine's Day. But it doesn't have to be just for lovers.
How to make Bebek heart tiles
Step 1
Start with the Kilyos base. (Make the first five steps here.)
Fold the squashed parts towards the open corners.
You'll have four squares when you fold all of them.
Fold the flaps on the side of each square inside as shown. Don't squash them. We want 3D effect.
Repeat step 4 for all the flaps.
Make rounder corners by folding them backwards or tucking them inside. This is not a crucial step but it makes the model look like a collection of hearts.
Apply this step if you want to use more than one tile. (Otherwise, not necessary.) Hold the corner under the hearts and push it up.
Make sure you have sharp creases and a pointy part like that.
Repeat step 8 three more times.
Prepare a windmill base from 1/4 of paper you used for the tile. This will be the connecting unit.
Lock the connecting unit with the pointy part. You can use either sides of the unit. But I think this side is a little better than the other side.
Connect other units in the same manner.
