My Second Design: Bogazici (Bosphorus) Star

 

This star was created by me on 4 February 2021.

I named it as the Bogazici (Bosphorus) Star because I graduated from Bogazici University Philosophy Department in 2007. On those days, the university students and instructors were being unfairly treated treated. So, I made this star as a silent support.

However, it turned out to be a perfect Christmas ornament.

I was inspired from the Interlaced Wreath, whose video you can find at the end of this post. I took in further and turned into a 4-piece star.

How to fold the Bogazici (Bosphorus) Star

Step 1

Start with the fish base. 

Step 2

Valley fold it on the middle line. It should really look like a fish with fins.

Step 3

Reverse-fold one flap like this.

Step 4

Repeat step 4 for the other flap.

Step 5

Fold the part below to the middle like that.

Step 6

Open the flap as shown.

Step 7

Turn the model over and fold the upper edge inside.

Step 8

Repeat step 7 for the other edge.

Step 9

Repeat step 5-6-7-8 on the other side.

Step 10

Make sure you have diamonds on both sides.

Step 11

Turn the model over and reverse fold one side.

Step 12

Repeat step 11 for the other side.

Step 13

Fold the little flaps upwards and make creases.

Step 14

Reverse fold the flaps and tuch them inside on each side.

Step 15

One side will look like below. Repeat step 13-14 for the other side and complete the unit.

Step 16

Join each unit like that. The assembly is symmetrical.

Step 18

Repeat step 17 for all 4 units. And your star is ready.
