I created this piece on 21 March 2021. The Kilyos base holds so many possibilities and it still amazes me.
If you make the first version with 21x21 cm paper, it has enough space to hold a LED tealight candle.
Other versions have smaller spaces. But larger paper my work on the second variation.
Last two versions are solely Froebel variations.
The name Pera is a lower side of Beyoglu, which houses the famous Istiklal Street.
How to fold the Pera candle holder and its variations
Step 1
Prepare a windmill base.
Step 2
Fold the corners up and then unfold.
Fold the upper corners half way to the crease.
Squash fold the base. We have the Kilyos base.
Fold the right sides to the middle.
Repeat three more times.
Tuck the previous fold inside.
Repeat three more times.
Fold the corner up.
Repeat three more times.
Turn the model over and fold the side back.
Repeat three more times.
Bring the corner in the middle.
Repeat three more times. See the smaller square.
Fold all the corners in the middle. You'll have this shape.
Fold up the little petals in the middle. Don't push them too much. Let them point upwards.
Repeat three more times. And version 1, the candle holder, is ready.
Fold the corners of the petal inside like this.
Repeat three more times. Variation 2 is ready.
Turn the model over. You'll bring these corners to the front with reverse folding.
Bring one corner the front. It will look like that when you reverse fold it.
Repeat three more times. Variation 3 is ready.
Fold up the little petals like on the step 15-16.
Fold up the other corners. You can also shape the petals if you like.
