I created this design on 17 May 2021. It can be counted as a variation of Isa Klein's Florucha.
I was playing with origami dress base, hoping to find some way to this form that is one of my favorites. And I found two variations.
Isa Klein's design is from rectangular paper, made up of 6 units and has a flower-like look in the middle.
Later I saw Lavender Home's five-petal version, too.
How to fold the May Flower ornament
Fold the paper in half.
Turn the paper over. Fold one side to the middle.
Fold the other side to the middle, too.
Turn the model over again and fold the side to the middle, keeping the fold below.
Fold the other side, too.
Turn the model over. You should have this shape.
Fold the corners.
Using the creases, make this fold on both sides.
Fold the model in half on this side.
Turn the model over and fold one side to the middle.
Fold the other side to the middle, too.
Make a crease by bringing the back triangles to the front, then return them to their previous position.
Using the crease you made, fold the corner as shown.
Repeat on all corners.
Fold the unit in half again. You can fold the corners inside.
Be careful as you reverse fold them. The paper is thick and can be torn.
Make 8 of these. And see the pockets before assembling them.
Assemble the units as shown on both sides (it's highly symmetrical). You'll need glue to hold them in place.
The finished model will look like that.
For the 4-unit version, repeat all the 18 steps with 4 units. (You can skip step 17-18). Then open up the left flap on all sides.
Assemble the units as shown on both sides. Use glue to make them stay in place.
Repeat for all the units.
Push the middle corners up.
Turn the model over and push the corners on the other side up, too. It is ready!
