My Thirty-First Design: Florya Ornament and Bowl

I designed Florya as a Froebel variation on 2 May 2021. 

Florya is a neighborhood in Istanbul, which is also the name of a small bird.

How to fold Florya ornament

Step 1

Fold a windmill base.

Step 2

Fold the middle corners up.

Step 3

Unfold and fold the middle corners half to the crease.

Step 4

Unfold and fold the outer corners to the last crease.

Step 5

Squash fold the corners.

Step 6

Fold the flaps to the middle as shown.

Step 7

Repeat for all the flaps.

Step 8

Fold the corners of the folded parts up as shown.

Step 9

Repeat for all of them.

Step 10

Squash fold the corners.

Step 11

Repeat for all of them.

Step 12

Fold the middle corners up and in between the flaps. You can curve them for more beautiful look.

Step 13

Fold the rest of the middle flaps up. First version is ready.

Step 14

If you want a more 3D look, you can add an additional fold as shown.

Step 15

Repeat on all four sides.

Step 16

You can push the paper in between the corners to get a bowl.

You can use Florya as a flat ornament or 3D bowl.
