My Thirtieth Design: Sunflower Mandala

I created this design on 30 April 2021.

--> It looks like a stylized sunflower, so I named it that way.

--> This design isn't pure origami. It is glued almost in every spot. Get your glue ready.

--> I like how it looks on both sides, so I didn't try to assemble it without glue.

How to fold the Sunflower Mandala

Step 1

Prepare 16 equal pieces of square paper. Their size is up to you.

Step 2

Fold the first diagonal.

Step 3

Fold the second diagonal.

Step 4

Fold the right corner to the top corner.

Step 5

Fold the left corner to the top corner.

Step 6

Fold the right flap in half.

Step 7 

Fold the left flap in half.

Step 8

Fold one of the middle flaps to the front.

Step 9

Fold the other middle flap to the back.

Step 10

Fold the model in half like shown below.

Step 11

Take the right flaps and fold them to the front as shown below.

Step 12

Bring to units together. I chose the right flap to be over the left flap. If you chose the other way, you should repeat it for the rest. Don't forget to glue it.

Step 13

Turn the model over. Arrange the back flaps. I chose the white part to point rightwards. If you chose the other way, you should repeat it for the rest. Don't forget to glue it.

Step 14

Assemble 16 pieces and glue them. The sunflower mandala is ready.

I think its back is as nice as its front.
