My Thirty-Fifth Design: Cihangir Cat Bowl

I created this design on 3 May 2021 as a Froebel variation.

Cihangir is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Istanbul. I was surprised that I hadn't used it for any design yet. But then I thought Cihangir was waiting for the cats, which it is famous for.

How to fold Cihangir Cat Bowl

Step 1

Fold a windmill base and fold the corners half to the top.

Step 2

Unfold and fold the middle corners to the crease.

Step 3

Unfold and fold the upper corners to the last crease. Then squash fold them.

Step 4

Fold the corners to the middle as shown below.

Step 5

Fold the corners towards the middle as shown below.

Step 6

Fold all the corners inside. There you have the ears.

Step 7

Fold the middle corners up. 

Step 8

Fold the corners half way down. There you have the figurative face.

Step 9

For a more 3D look, you can fold below the corners as shown.

Step 10

Repeat on all corners. The cat heads will tilt up a little.

Step 11

You can fold the middle corners as shown to have more cat faces.

Step 12

If you want to make it a bowl, push it from four sides.

Step 13 (Optional)

You can draw faces to the cats.
