My Eighty-First Design: Hagia Sofia Star

I created this star on 24 September 2021. I gave the name Hagia Sophia star, because I think both variations resemble the original decors on the ceilings of the historical building.

How to fold the Hagia Sophia Star

Step 1

Fold a square base.

Step 2

Fold like the bird base to have the octagonal folds.

Step 3

Unfold the flaps and fold them inside.

Step 4

Fold the corner to the line.

Step 5

Unfold and fold the corner to the other line.

Step 6

Unfold and fold two octagons as shown. 

Step 7

Sink fold both.

Step 8

You'll have four access corners from the larger octagon. Reverse fold them as shown.

Step 9

Repeat three more times.

Step 10

Fold the sides of the petals out the line as shown.

Step 11

Repeat on all corners.

Step 12 

This is the first version. You can leave it like that or go on.

Step 13

Pull one of the petals and fold the middle part to the right and to the left. Then leave it upwards.

Step 14

Repeat three more times. The star is ready.
