My Forty-Forth Design: Summer Sun Mandala

I created Summer Sun mandala on 5 June 2021. I was actually on the beach when I came up with the units. So, you know how I named it.

It is made up of 9 units. Again, an odd number for origami mandalas.

How to fold the Summer Sun Mandala:

Step 1

Prepare 9 square papers. Start with the white side up for duo-color papers.

Step 2

Fold one diagonal.

Step 3

Fold the other diagonal.

Step 4

Fold the left half like the fish base and reverse fold it.

Step 5

Fold the other half up and reverse fold it, too.

Step 6

Squash fold the right corner like shown below.

Step 7

Make a fold starting from the right to the left as shown. The left line should be straight.

Step 8

Using the crease, fold the corner to the right side.

Step 9

Fold the bottom flap as shown. The tip should almost touch to the upper like.

Step 10

Unfold and squash fold it.

Step 11

Turn the model over and fold the flap as shown, starting from the corner to the line.

Step 12

Squash fold the top part to the bottom part as shown. The unit is ready.

Step 13

Assemble the units as shown. Put the flap into the pocket at the back.

Step 14

The front should look like that. You can glue the middle part.

Step 15

Assemble the rest of the units. The flaps on the middle part should point the same direction.
