My Twenty-Third Design: Balat Bowl

I created the Balat bowl on 3 April 2021.

There are similar Froebel bowls around. This might be called a variation. I used Kilyos base. There is some differences especially at the bottom.

Balat is a historical and touristic neighborhood. So, I thought it would be an appropriate name. And it resonates with "bowl".

How to fold the Balat Bowl

Step 1

Start with the windmill base.

Step 2

Fold the middle corners to the top corners and unfold.

Step 3

Fold the top corners to the middle.

Step 4

Squash fold all the corners. You have the Kilyos base.

Step 5

Fold the side flaps backwards.

Step 6

Repeat for all the corners.

Step 7

Fold a middle corner up.

Step 8

Repeat three more times.

Step 9

Turn the model over and make the middle corner clear.

Step 10

Push the corner in gently, holding the top folds, until the limit of the middle square.

Step 11

Repeat three more times. You'll have this shape.

Step 12

Turn the model over and check out all the folds are in place.

The Balat bowl is ready!
