My Seventy-Fourth Design: Göynük Flower Bowl

I created the open version of the flower on 13 August 2021 and the closed version on 14 August 2021.

Göynük is a beautiful natural wonder, a canyon in Antalya. So, it matches the beauty of this flower.

How to fold the Göynük flower bowl

Step 1

Fold the paper in half on both sides.

Step 2

Turn the paper over and fold the diagonals.

Step 3

Fold the bird base.

Step 4

Squash fold the side as shown.

Step 5

Repeat three more times.

Step 6

Fold one flap to one side and see the triangle.

Step 7

Fold all the triangles back. (You can cut them if you like.)

Step 8

Turn to a flap without a triangle.

Step 9

Fold the corner first to the half and then to the fourth.

Step 10

Squash fold the middle octagon.

Step 11

For the first version, we go on from here. Fold the middle flaps reverse. 

Step 12

Repeat seven more times. Mind that they should be equal.

Step 13

Fold the middle folded flaps so that you have even petals.

Step 14

Fold the middle of the flaps to a side to lock the petals.

Step 15

Repeat 7 more times.

Step 16

First version of the flower bowl is ready.

Step 17

For the second version, let's start from step 10. After squash folding the octagon, start opening it, twisting the sides.

Step 18

When you twist it all together it will look like that.

However, you'll realize that it doesn't open completely. So, we'll work on that.

Here is a look from behind.

Step 19

Fold the petals in half like you did in the other version. 

Step 20

After you fold them in the middle, lock them by making a little fold to one side.

Step 21 

Repeat 7 more times. Here is the look from behind.

It will look like this from up above.
